On Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at around 8 a.m., a tremendous milestone in the history of the website was finally achieved----I reached the 100,000 hit plateau! As I’m forever fond of saying, when I launched the website in December of 1998, I did it purely as a lark. Never in my wildest imagination did I envision a website devoted to a Japanese pop duo from the 70’s would become so popular, both here and in Japan as people there are extremely familiar with my shrine to Pink Lady. Over the years, my labor of love has grown exponentially, going from mere webpage to a full-blown website with over 200 pages, music reviews, lots of information and hundreds of pictures of Mie and Kei, the legends of J-pop music. But, more importantly, thanks to the website, I’ve been able to correspond with scores of terrific people, most of whom became good friends who mean a great deal to me. And, best of all, the website put me in touch with someone over in Japan who helped me realize my most cherished dream back in 2003, a dream that had been deferred for a quarter century: seeing Pink Lady live in concert, easily the happiest moment of my entire life. All things considered, it’s been the people, the fans of Pink Lady that have made this worthwhile. THANK YOU, EVERYBODY!!! My enthusiasm for the website is strong as ever, and I look forward to presenting more great stuff about Pink Lady. In some ways, I’ve only scratched the surface as there’s still so much ground to cover regarding Mie and Kei, and I hope that everyone reading these words will continue on the journey with me. In closing, I’m sure Mie and Kei know about my shrine to them, and have no doubt they’ve visited it occasionally. I just want to say this directly to the Ladies: Everything I’ve done, I’ve done for you. I’m your fan for life, and I will always love you. ADDITIONAL MILESTONES: 150,000 hits: January 9, 2008 |
